Epixor XT-20 - Fantastic Little Reel
By: SP on 6 December 2021Great little Reel, however, as mentioned by the previous reviewer the reel sizes by Okuma here can be a little misleading. The Epixor XT-20 (which I am reviewing here) falls in the realm of most 1000 sized Reels, a great little reel for Ultra-light stuff, in the salt, targeting the likes of Bream, Flathead and Whiting. Casting is a dream with this reel spooled with Braid (I have J-Braid x8 - 6lb, 0.06mm on mine atm) , no issues whatsoever with wind knots and the like, and I can attest to the smoothness of the reel in operation. It truly rivals my Stradic 1000 Ci4+ in all departments. The Drag on the reel is superb, in fact I christened the Reel coupled with a 1-3kg stick on a Flathead, just under the 60cm mark, whilst spinning on the flats!. Only drawback I have found so far is that the Drag 'clicker' sound on the Reel is audible at best and not of the standard as found on my Stradic. Can't fault this reel for the price though, and so far it's standing the test of time and is as smooth as the day I first bought it. Comes Highly recommended from me.

Great reel, but buy up a size than you would norma
18 February 2021This is for the Epixor XT EPXT-20. First up, HookedOnline's service was fantastic. Order was shipped next day and in my hands in 3 days! Faultless! TLDR summary: The Epixor 20 It is extremely smooth and is very nice to fish with! But be warned – it’s way smaller than naming or capacity specs indicate! For context, I primarily fish at the lighter end of the spectrum, mainly targeting Bream & Bass, through to Salmon and the odd mulloway. I have a few mid to high-end reels in the 1000 – 3000 ranges (Exist, Luvias, Vanford, Stradics) but I needed something a bit cheaper to use a spare reel for niche jobs. The Epixor was reviewed well around the web and priced appropriately – it looked like a good match. I've had a few quick flicks with it and so far I am very happy! It casts really well, the retrieve is exceptionally smooth (way better than my Stradics) and overall is a great all-round reel. It seems quite strong and very stiff – very little flex at all. I was a bit concerned about the slow-oscillation line layer, as the narrow weave looked like it might be a problem with lighter-gauge braids, but so far it hasn't caused any issues. The only gripe I have with the reel is its size! Be warned – it is way smaller than the naming suggests! Based on the name and the line capacity specifications from Okuma, I got the size 20 reel expecting it to be equivalent to a size 2000 or 2500 Daiwa or Shimano reel. The reel specs from Okuma’s website indicate it should carry about the same amount of line as a Stradic 2500. Unfortunately the reel is a lot smaller than expected - it is physically smaller than my size 1000 Stradic, and I was only able to get 115m of 8lb Berkley X9 (.10mm diameter), with no mono backing – way under the expected capacity specs. For what I’m using the reel for I can make do with the smaller size, but if I had actually needed an proper 2000 sized reel, this would not be usable! So in short: apart from the tiny size, the Epixor is an excellent reel – way better than the price tag would indicate! I'd highly recommend it as a secondary or backup reel or maybe as a spare for the kids to use – just order a size up from what you’re actually after!
